I created the top 1% performing product tours with Navattic

So, I received this in my inbox yesterday — our interactive demos/ product tours at Chainstack performed in Navattic’s Top 1% this year. Cool, eh? 😎

I’ve always been vocal about “showing the damn product” even though the opposite of this remains the norm in B2B. 🤔

At Chainstack, even though we’ve always had a free-forever plan for those just starting out, the sign-up journey always asked for credit card info upfront (up until recently) which led to a significant drop-off midway through the process.

I wanted to find a way to help users get over this barrier to entry and showcase just how easy it was to use our product when it comes to deploying blockchain nodes and getting access to various APIs.

But how do we do it when one can’t experience it without putting in their credit card first?

Even though I’ve used multiple product tour solutions in the past such as Appcues, Chameleon, UserPilot, Pendo, Intercom, etc.—all of which I think are fantastic—they all reside “inside” the product.

I wanted a tool that could help us create product tours that felt authentic and could live “outside” our product. After evaluating several products, I decided to go with Navattic.

The outcome? Long story short: we started to see a 5%+ boost in conversion since week 2 itself and it’s only increased steadily through the year. The demos helped our prospects “jump over the fence”, i.e., try the demo, feel convinced, put in their credit card info, and start using the product immediately. 🚀

Here are a few reasons from an operational urgency and ROI standpoint to go with something like Navattic:

  • Creating video demos is great, but it’s also time-consuming and requires multiple people: from writing the script, creating a storyboard, designing the styleframes, animating the video, shooting footage if required, etc., etc., y’all know the drill
  • Editing a demo video is even more of a hassle if the product’s UI changes, which is quite common with fast-moving companies like Chainstack
  • A solution like Navattic recreates an authentic feeling experience of your product
  • Getting a product demo up and running takes anywhere from a couple of hours to a few minutes and is usually a one-person job
  • If your product’s UI changes, editing the product tour is super easy and fast
  • Users can “touch and feel” your product without any fear of commitment which greatly helps in creating an “IKEA effect” kinda feel and momentum

Now, I’m sure I’m playing right into the hands of the marketing machine at Navattic, but I think it’s a cool product, I like it, and I have no problem at all giving it a huge shoutout. 🤘
